I remind the Premier of his claim in this House on 13 March regarding the influence of former Labor Premier, Brian Burke, over his Government that - No-one in Western Australia, outside the Cabinet and Government of Western Australia, has “privileged access”. (1) Is the Premier aware of an e-mail dated 30 June 2003 in which Mr Burke outlined the specific decision of the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure regarding the deregulation of the taxi industry, which was more than a week before the decision was announced? (2) Does the Premier concede that Mr Burke must have had privileged access to the Labor Government in order to be in possession of this information? Dr G.I. GALLOP

(1)-(2) It is a good Opposition, is it not? Look at its contributions to debate in the Parliament today, 19 August 2003. Opposition members are on their little trawler with all their nets and hooks out. The only problem is that their boat is a little misdirected and is running up the local sewer! That is where they are; that is where their politics are! The Leader of the Opposition has failed to correct the record in this Parliament in respect of a statement he made. Let us look at the shadow minister. She is trying to imply that, somehow or other, someone has extra access to information from the Government of Western Australia. She is wrong! This matter was discussed publicly and reported in The West Australian . It is easy for anyone in the community to make a judgment about what is going on. The Liberal Party of Western Australia circa 2003 is crawling around in the sewer. When opposition members surface from their little activities they will have muddy and dirty faces because that is what happens to people who engage in that sort of politics. The member is a disgrace in coming into this Parliament - Mr C.J. Barnett: Answer the question! Dr G.I. GALLOP: The question has been answered. The tactics and strategy of the Opposition have been revealed for all to see.
