1158. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the Minister
for Disability Services:
I refer to the National Disability
Insurance Scheme.
(1) Can the minister confirm when an
NDIS agreement will be finalised with the federal government?
(2) Will the
minister commit that people with disability in Western Australia will not be
disadvantaged by whatever scheme is agreed upon?
(3) In each of the Western Australian
NDIS trial sites —
(a) how many participants have had a plan
approved; and
(b) how many participants with a psychosocial
disability have had a plan approved?

(1) The state and
commonwealth governments are continuing to work to finalise an NDIS agreement
this month. Discussions with the commonwealth are ongoing and productive.
(2) The state
government is committed to ensuring that all Western Australians with
disability can achieve the same, or better, outcomes as people participating in
the NDIS in other states, as has been the case throughout the NDIS trials in Western
Australia.
(3) (a) As at 30
September 2016, 2 284 people have an approved plan—910 in the lower
south west and 1 374 in Cockburn–Kwinana.
(b) As at 30
September 2016, 239 people with psychosocial disability have an approved plan—133
in the lower south west and 106 people in Cockburn–Kwinana.
