I have a supplementary question. Is it reasonable to give people just eight days notice to reply or risk being taken off the waitlist and missing out on vital surgery? That is what this does. Mr J.A. McGINTY

Absolute rubbish! We all know that we cannot believe a word that the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party says. It gets better than that. Not only should we not believe anything he says, we should start from the presumption that what he says is false. I do on this occasion. Nobody will be struck off the waitlist on eight days notice.
