325. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Minister for
Transport:
I have a supplementary question. The question is specifically about the
hardship fund. What is the maximum amount available per plate under this fund;
and if the total amount paid for applications that fall within the eligibility
criteria exceeds $6 million, will there be more money available?

Mr D.C. NALDER : With regard to the hardship fund, this is
designed —

The SPEAKER : That is enough. I do not need you to point! That is enough. Let the
minister answer.
Mr D.C. NALDER : With regard to the hardship fund of $6 million,
the basic premise and principle of this is to support exceptional
circumstances. An independent consultant is working through that definition.
The maximum payment is estimated to be $75 000. These funds are there for
exceptions. We want to make sure that we are sensitive to those issues and we
will review it on the way through.
