EDUCATION —
BUDGET CUTS
1048. Hon SUE ELLERY to the
Minister for Education:
I refer to the minister's answer to question without
notice 824 about the 2014 reduction of up to 10 per cent to teaching allocation
for the primary extension and challenge program, and that school principals and
regional executive directors were advised of the changes in August 2013. Given
it is now December, which schools have provided advice on the impact of these
changes to parents who have sought to enrol their children in PEAC for 2014,
and what was that advice?
Hon Peter Collier : This is question C1038, is it not?
Hon SUE ELLERY : Yes.

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
Assessment of year 4 students for eligibility to primary
extension and challenge courses in year 5 in 2014 is now complete. All students
identified through the testing program will be offered an opportunity to
participate in 2014. Students have been notified by schools.
