(a) The Supporting Communities Forum (the Forum) is established for two-year terms.
During its 2018 – 2019 term the Forum met on the following dates:
The 2020 – 2021 Forum was established in January 2020 and had its first meeting on 24 February 2020. On 26 March 2020, with the onset of COVID-19, the Premier announced the indefinite suspension of a number of programs and activities, including the Forum and its working groups.
The State Government subsequently decided to re-engage with members of the Forum to guide and inform the Government’s approach to social and economic recovery. The Forum provided input to the WA Recovery Plan and Impact Statement as part of the Ministerial Roundtable discussions held in June 2020, and the Forum also met on 24 August 2020 to discuss its role in the State’s recovery efforts.
(b) The Forum is scheduled to meet on 19 October 2020.
(c) As the Forum was on hold while the ‘All Paths Lead to a Home’ Action Plan was being finalised, alternative ways of engaging with members were pursued. Several community sector members of the Forum also had the opportunity to review the plan and provide feedback in their capacity as members of the WA Council on Homelessness.
(d) Subject to the agreement of the Chairs, the Forum will receive updates on the Action Plan when it convenes to discuss its role in the State’s recovery efforts and have the opportunity to provide feedback and advice. Advice on partnerships and joint implementation will also be sought through other bodies, including the WA Council on Homelessness.
