the Deputy Premier:I have a supplementary question. With so many local
jobs reliant on the resources sector in this state, is it nowLabor Party
policy to attack resource company CEOs in Parliament?

Ms Rita Saffioti replied:I find it
extraordinary that that side would be asking about energy policy. Honestly! They
should all be ashamed of the confusion and chaos that they brought to this
state when they wanted to sell off Western Power, members. Remember it was the
Liberal Party that wanted to sell off Western Power. It was the Liberal Party
that turned its back on our plan in relation to renewables, gas as a key
transition source and closing coal-fired power stations. It wanted nuclear
power. We have had a clear plan. We have invested and committed billions of
dollars to our transmission network across the state. We have worked with
industry throughout the North West and the entire South West. We have a plan
that will deliver affordable and sustainable energy for decades to come and a
plan that is endorsed by the resources sector. Members would not see a
government that has been more supportive of the resources industry than this
state government. We support the resources industry and we support the jobs that
they do. Compare that with an opposition that says no to anything apart from
nuclear power.
