HEALTH ACT
1911 — REFORM
184. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the Health Act 1911 and commitments the Minister
for Health made in the other place to introduce a bill to revise the act in
2010 and 2011. When will the government introduce legislation to update the
Health Act 1911?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of this question.
The government remains committed to reforming the Health Act
1911. That reform will be achieved by way of the public health bill. The
Department of Health is continuing the necessary work on the bill, including
the required liaison with other government agencies, with a view to the bill
being available for introduction into Parliament in the latter part of 2014.
