I refer to question on notice No. 96, asked Tuesday, June 26 2001 and the answers provided -
(1) Can the Minister explain why the ‘work in question’ being the construction of an earthen catchment bund and the installation of a pipeline along the ‘new route’ was ‘maintenance of an approved mining operation that required no further approval’?
(2) Can the Minister explain why approval of the State Mining Engineer was required for ‘the operation of the pipeline in September 1991’?

(1) As the work on re-routing the pipeline was not a significant alteration or expansion of the existing/ongoing operation, it did not require a fresh notice of intent nor an increase in the bond amount. (2) The approval for the operation of the pipeline was part of the approval of the notice of intent titled 'Sitewide Water Supply Rationalization' dated September 1991.
