844. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Minister for Indigenous
Affairs:
I refer to the minister's 11 September 2012 answer to
question on notice 5942, questions on notice asked on 26 and 27 September 2012,
and question on notice to the Minister for Mines and Petroleum in respect of a
file note on James Price Point dated 12 January 2009.
(1) To whom
was the ''brief that was sent some time ago'' originally sent, as
identified in the email dated Friday, 17 June 2011, 10.14 am, from Rebecca
Bairnsfather-Scott to Julieta Abella?
(2) Which
officers from the Department of Indigenous Affairs have had informal meetings
or communications with which officers from the Department of State Development,
and on what dates?
(3) Was the 2009-01-12 DIA file note to DSD handed to DSD
informally?
(4) If yes to (3), which officer from DIA passed this
document to which officers in DSD?
(5) If no to (3), on what basis was it not provided to DSD as
requested?
(6) Which
officers from the Department of State Development requested a list of
Aboriginal heritage sites registered with the Department of Indigenous Affairs
along a 10-kilometre investigation corridor in the vicinity of James Price
Point?

question.
(1) Rob Thomas, former executive director, land and heritage,
Department of Indigenous Affairs.
(2)–(5)
DIA officers provide assistance to other government agencies, including the Department
of State Development. Records of informal meetings or communications are not
maintained by DIA. There is no record that the DIA file note was handed to DSD
informally. Mr Thomas and the then registrar are no longer officers of DIA.
(6) There is no record of a formal request being received by
DIA.
