DISABILITY SERVICES COMMISSION — MY WAY TRIAL SITE — 2015–16
ANNUAL REPORT
1080. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the Minister
for Disability Services:
I refer to the 2015–16
Disability Services Commission annual report.
(1) Can the
minister explain why an amount of $67 800 000 is listed as unspent funds on My
Way trial site support packages?
(2) Does this
mean that people with disability in the My Way trial sites are not getting
access to funding plans as quickly as the DSC had initially planned?
(3) As at 30 June
2016, how many people in the My Way trial sites had been identified as being
eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme but were yet to receive a
plan?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. I note that even though the question referred to My Way and
that was recognised for 2015–16, the answer refers to the WA NDIS, but
it is obviously the same.
Hon Stephen Dawson : The annual report states My Way.
Hon DONNA FARAGHER : I just wanted to clarify that. The answer
is as follows —
(1) Funds for all
NDIS trials in WA are allocated on the basis of a projected eligible
population, as it is in all states. In both the National Disability Insurance
Agency NDIS and WA NDIS sites the number of people seeking support has been
lower than the originally projected eligible population and so not all the
funds allocated have been required. There are no waitlists for planning or
eligibility assessment in WA NDIS and people are linked with their supports
during the planning process, meaning there is no delay to people accessing
services under their approved plans.
(2) No.
(3) As at 30 June
2016, 139 people have commenced but not yet completed the development of their
plans.
