YELLAGONGA WETLANDS — MIDGE MANAGEMENT
PARTNERSHIP
976. Hon KATE DOUST to the
minister representing the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the midge management
partnership agreement between the Cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup and the
Minister for Environment's department—formerly the Department
of Environment and Conservation and now the Department of Parks and Wildlife—for
the Yellagonga wetlands.
What has been the total contribution
made by the state government to progress the objectives of this agreement in
each of the financial years 2010–2011; 2011–2012; 2012–2013;
and 2013 to date?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
I am advised that midge management is implemented through a
partnership with the Cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup, with half the funding
provided by the state and half by local government. The state government
expenditure for the midge problem at Yellagonga wetlands is as follows: 2010–11,
$7 507; 2011–12, $56 198; 2012–13, $35 455; and 2013 to date,
$46 248.
