Hon Simon Ehrenfeld inquired about modelling for elective surgery wait times, ED presentations, and ramping hours at Joondalup Health Campus, contingent on whether a Yanchep hospital is built or not. The Minister for Health's response did not directly address the modelling question but highlighted investments in the Yanchep ECU Health Hub and additional beds at Joondalup Health Campus.

Joondalup Health Campus384.Hon Simon Ehrenfeldto theparliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Health:I refer to the
ongoing pressures on Joondalup Health Campus and the additional demand coming
from projected increases in population in the northern suburbs.(1) Under current Joondalup Health Campus
expansion plans, what modelling has been undertaken to quantify elective
surgery wait times, emergency department presentations and ramping hours if a Yanchep
hospital is:(a) built; or(b) not built?(2) If there has been modelling, what are
the forecasts in each scenario modelled?

I thank the
honourable member also for some notice of the question. The following answer
has been provided by the Minister for Health.
(1)–(2) The Department of Health assesses and
plans for the needs of WA's growing population. To support Perth's northern
corridor, the Cook Labor government has invested over $8 million in the Yanchep
ECU Health Hub and recently announced an additional 60 beds at Joondalup Health
Campus. We are committed to a long-term plan that grows as Yanchep grows,
ensuring Western Australians can access the care we need when we need it.
