CARCOOLA — BUS SERVICE
320. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to question 1112 asked by me
on 13 October 2015 to the Minister for Transport.

minister or the Public Transport Authority investigated any other transport
options for residents in Carcoola?
(2) If yes to (1), what was the
outcome of those investigations; and, if not, why not?
(3) Has the
minister or the Public Transport Authority liaised with the Shire of Murray
regarding transport options for the residents of Carcoola?
(4) If yes to (3), what conclusion
was reached?
(5) What will the
minister do to ensure the serious concerns of Carcoola residents about lack of
public transport options are addressed?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1)–(2) As
previously answered in question 1112, the Public Transport Authority has
investigated the option of extending the route 600 bus service to include
Carcoola. However, given the isolated nature and limited residential development
of this area, the 10-kilometre return trip extension of the bus service cannot
be justified at this time.
(3) Yes, on 13 October 2015.
(4) See answer to (1).
(5) The PTA will
continue to periodically assess the viability of providing services to Carcoola
as part of its regular network reviews. Any decision to introduce a service
will be subject to the availability of additional resources.
