WARRAWEE WOMEN'S
REFUGE
367. Ms S.F. McGURK to the Minister for WomenXXX ###XXXs Interests:
I have a
supplementary question. As Minister for WomenXXX ###XXXs
Interests, does the minister not have an interest to ensure that this
government is not pushing costs back to the local council to manage the governmentXXX ###XXXs own budget mess when the only losers
out of this situation will be women and children trying to leave violent
situations?

AnswerView source ↗

Of course, as
Minister for WomenXXX ###XXXs Interests and as
Minister for Police, I have an intimate interest in ensuring that there are
places for women and children to go to flee domestic violence. The specific
funding arrangements that those refuges have with the government are managed by
the Minister for Child Protection, Hon Helen Morton , in the other place. I am sure that she would be more than willing to
furnish the member with a response to that question, but it will need to be put
on notice or directed to the Premier or the Minister for Local Government who
are responsible for representing the honourable minister from the other place.
