Osborne Park Hospital—Maternity services
107. Ms Libby Mettam to
the Minister for Health:
I have a
supplementary question. Why is the government asking Western Australian women
to accept a model of maternity care that clinicians say is outdated and unsafe,
with the closure of King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women?
Ms Cassie Rowe interjected.
Ms Libby Mettam: It is in the AMA statement. Many
other clinicians have also stated it as well.
The Speaker: Member for Vasse! Member for Vasse, you
do not get up on your feet, ask a question and then start having an argument
with another member. That is disorderly. Do not do that again, please.

Thank you for that,
Speaker. We are incredibly excited about the infrastructure that we are
building. It is an important part of our overall plan to deliver better
services and better health care to people in Western Australia. The planning
that sits alongside those infrastructure builds is an important part of the
overall picture. That work is continuing.
Ms Libby Mettam interjected.
The Speaker: Member
for Vasse, I am calling you for the first time. Keep going, minister.
Ms Meredith Hammat: The planning that sits alongside
the infrastructure build is happening. I reject the assertion that the member
again makes that these services will be in any way unsafe for Western
Australian women.
