Mr. Barnett responds that existing contracts, largely from the previous government, will be standardised as they are renewed, acknowledging some salaries are excessive.

GOVERNMENT TRADING ENTERPRISES
I have a supplementary question, Mr Speaker. Why is the Treasurer so quick to slug households with increased fees and charges, but so slow to respond to executive salaries? Mr C.J. BARNETT

Again, I make the point that the CEOs of the government trading enterprises have existing contracts—almost all of them put in place by the previous government. Mr B.S. Wyatt : As they expire will they come into the new arrangement? Mr C.J. BARNETT : As they get rolled over, they will come into a more standardised format. And some of them, in my view, are excessive.
