The Public Sector Management Act 1994 provides a number of general and human resource principles that are to be observed for the administration and management of the Public Sector. Section 8(2) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 provides that an employing authority of a department or organisation is not subject to any direction by the Minister of the Crown responsible for the department or organisation in matters relating to, among other things, redeployment and redundancy. It is therefore necessary to have a provision in section 93 of the Act that clarifies the prohibition of Ministerial involvement in matters relating to redeployment and redundancy.
