SCIENCE AND INNOVATION REVIEW
I refer to the Western Australian science and innovation review released in 2009. (1) Since the review was released, how many meetings of the interim advisory board have occurred? (2) Who is on the interim advisory board; and, how were they selected and by whom? (3) Has the board reported to the government as yet; and, if so, will the minister table any report? I answer on behalf of the Leader of the House. I thank the member for some notice of this question. The question was referred to the science innovation business division of the Department of Commerce and I provide the following answer — (1) Since the review has been released, a total of four meetings have been held. (2) There were six members of the interim council, including the chair, and they are Charles Morgan, chair; Erica Smyth; Dr Mal Bryce, AO; Dr Megan Clark, from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation; Dr Kristin Nowak; and Colin Beckett. These members were appointed by the state government on the recommendation of the Minister for Science and Innovation. (3) Yes. The report is under consideration by the Minister for Science and Innovation. (4) The former Minister for Science and Innovation announced on 2 December 2009 that the Council for Science and Innovation will be operational by mid-2010 and the government is working towards this time line.
