AGRICULTURE AND FOOD — BIOSECURITY
1204. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Minister for Agriculture and
Food:
I refer to the recent biosecurity
blitz that concluded on 24 October 2022.
(1) How many
reports of biosecurity concerns were received by the department in each of the
last five years?
(2) How many actions were taken as a
result of those reports?
(3) As a result of those reports,
what area of land was treated for invasive species in each year?
(4) How many of
those reports related to invasive species whose classification the government
changed to a permitted organism, as identified in the Government Gazette of 17 November 2017?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. On behalf of the Minister for Agriculture and
Food, I provide the following answer.
(1)–(4) It
is unreasonable to expect the analysis and collation of five years'
worth of data to be completed in such a short period. I advise the member that
the answer will be provided on Tuesday, 29 November 2022.
