(1) The Department of Education currently records any incident of a serious nature through its critical incident data base.
In 2007, 2008 and 2009 the Department of Education collected comprehensive and systematic aggregated bullying data from over 10 500 Western Australian public school students from across the State. This was done in partnership with Edith Cowan University to increase our understanding and to provide more responsive policy and practice to address the prevalence and trends of school bullying incidents in Western Australian schools.
(2) I am considering these research findings with a view to future data collection and analysis of bullying incidents that will minimise such behaviour.
(3) Not applicable.
