A parliamentary question regarding the proximity of convicted paedophile Ryan Clegg to a primary school and the communication flow between the school, department, and minister's office. PAEDOPHILE — SCHOOL PROXIMITY —
RYAN CLEGG
729. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for Education:
I refer to the article in The
West online on Monday, 15 August that reported that local parents advised a
primary school that convicted paedophile Ryan Clegg was living in a house in
close proximity to that school.
(1) Can the school confirm when it
received notification from community members?
(2) Did the school pass this
information on to the department?
(3) Did the department pass this
advice on to the minister's office; and, if so, when?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Although the
article refers to a childcare centre and not a primary school, in relation to
the primary school, I am advised that on Wednesday morning of 10 August 2016, a
parent of the school came to the front office of the school to advise that she
had seen a person she believed to be Mr Clegg at a nearby cafe approximately
500 metres from the school.
(2) Yes. The principal of the school
contacted the south metropolitan education regional office.
(3) No.
