CHARLES STREET PLANNING
STUDY
1286. Hon NEIL THOMSON to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Planning:
I
quote from the Main Roads video used in the consultation process for Charles
Street, which said, ''Thinking beyond two dimensions, planners have developed innovative surgical bypass
solutions—what you might call a duck and dive.''
(1) Will the
minister commit to the three-dimensional approach for Charles Street in future
plans?
(2) If no to (1), has the minister now stopped being ''innovative'',
as the proposal was described by Main Roads?
(3) If no to (1),
how will the minister manage congestion into the future, noting Perth's
planned population of 3.5 million?

Absolutely killer
question!
(1)–(3) The
McGowan Labor government is investing record funds in job-creating,
economy-driving transport infrastructure. This includes Metronet, which will
see 72 kilometres added to Perth's rail network. It should be noted
that the Liberal Party has consistently failed to deliver improved transport
options for the northern suburbs and failed to deliver on its commitments to
build Metro Area Express light rail and the Ellenbrook rail line.
