1. The National Heritage values listing of the Dampier Archipelago and the Burrup Peninsula protects the heritage values, as defined under the Commonwealth Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, of 80% of the area. The remaining 20% is zoned for current or potential use for industry. National Heritage Listing was announced by the then Minister for Environment in July 2007.
