I refer to the Minister’s media release of 12 April 2010 headlined ‘Strong interest in South Hedland land’, and I ask:
(a) what developments have been completed on the 60 hectares of land, as referred to in the Minister’s announcement; and

a) The Department of Regional Development and Lands (RDL) in liaison with various companies, Department of Housing (DoH) and Town of Port Hedland (ToPH) has been working to overcome native title and planning issues which have constrained development of the land. The recent native title agreement secured by the Liberal-National Government over South Hedland releases the constraint of native title from many of these sites, which will allow development to progress once planning approvals are in place.
(b) Approximately 17.7 ha has been earmarked for DoH, and RDL is awaiting confirmation from DoH that it wishes to progress with purchasing the land. Approximately 3.3 ha have been earmarked for the ToPH and RDL is awaiting confirmation from the ToPH that it wishes to purchase the land.
