I refer to the site known as the Gascoyne Traders site in Carnarvon which was to be the location of the new Carnarvon Police and Justice Complex, and I ask:
(a) has this site been evaluated/assessed for suitability for the construction of a Police and Justice Complex;
(b) if yes to (a), has the evaluation been completed and is the site clear for construction to take place;
(c) if the evaluation has not been completed, when is it due to be finalised; and
(d) if the site is not clear for construction, why not?

(a-b) The accredited contaminated site auditor, engaged by the former occupier of the site, is currently reviewing the site investigation and remediation works undertaken at the site and is preparing his mandatory auditor's report. This report will indicate if any further remediation works are required.
(c-d) The mandatory auditor's report will be submitted to the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) once it is completed. DEC expects to complete its assessment within four weeks of receiving the report.
