The Disability Services Commission commenced a funded Autism Early Intervention programme on July 1 1998. In its first year of operation 169 children received funding and in its second year to June 30 2000, 216 children were funded. To be eligible for services or funding the person/family must be resident in Western Australia or be eligible for residency. The duration of residency is not a criterion.
