Demersal fishing ban—Recfishwest submission
97. Hon Rob Horstman to
the Minister for Fisheries:
I refer to the
government's snap demersal fishing ban and tabled paper 1009, tabled on 26
February 2026, which is the commercial fishing industry submission from the
Western Australian Fishing Industry Council.
As the minister
tabled the submission from WAFIC, will she table the submissions from
Recfishwest and the Australian Fishing Trade Association?

I thank the
honourable member for the question. Recfishwest and the Australian Fishing
Trade Association (AFTA) provided input through the Fishing Futures Forum held
on 20 October 2025. AFTA did not provide a written submission. Recfishwest
published its submission on its website on 31 October. I table a copy of Recfishwest's
four-point plan for supporting healthy demersal fisheries across Western
Australia, obtained from its website.
