I refer to the Country High Schools Hostels Authority (CHSHA) ex gratia scheme, and I ask: (a) how much funding was originally allocated to the CHSHA ex gratia scheme; (b) how was the amount of funding originally allocated to the CHSHA ex gratia scheme calculated; (c) how much funding was paid to successful applicants; (d) what was the average ex gratia payment approved in this scheme; and (e) what was the average ex gratia payment approved for applicants that identified as Aboriginal?

(a) $6.7m was originally allocated to the Country High School Hostels Scheme (for both ex gratia payments and administration of the scheme).
(b) The funding was calculated on the basis of 350 applicants and a three-tiered payment scheme of $5 000, $20 000 and $45 000.
(c) Just over $3.2m was paid to successful applicants.
(d) 60 of the 90 payments made were at the highest level, being $45 000.
(e) This data was not collected.
