I thank the member for some notice
of the question. I assume that Hon Alanna
Clohesy is referring to the recently announced expansion into the local
government areas.
Hon Alanna Clohesy interjected.
Hon DONNA FARAGHER : Okay. I will respond on that basis. If
there is some further information, I will get that to the member.
(a) It was taken that it related to the
expansion to the local government areas of Bayswater, Bassendean, York,
Northam, Chittering and Toodyay. The Perth hills site is the existing National
Disability Insurance Agency trial area, which has been in operation since 1
July 2014.
The Disability Services Commission
has already proactively engaged with the commonwealth government and the
National Disability Insurance Agency to jointly agree on communications to
potential clients and to identify the agency's data requirements on
clients in the expansion areas.
(b) The
commission is in the process of developing statewide communications about the
WA NDIS. These communications will not be targeted towards the commonwealth
government's expansion areas; however, they will refer people living in
those areas to the NDIA to test their eligibility. I am also aware that the
National Disability Insurance Agency has information on its website about the
extension and expansion of the trials.
I apologise; that is the way that I took
the question. I am happy to speak to the member behind the Chair and get the
correct information for her.
