Hon Adele Farina questions the Premier's office regarding the invitation list for a Lotterywest cheque presentation to the City of Busselton, specifically concerning the exclusion of the Nationals candidate and a South West Region MLC while including the Liberal candidate for Vasse during a by-election period. The Premier's response acknowledges the political context of the event.

BUSSELTON
SKATE AND BMX PARK — LOTTERYWEST FUNDING
1121. Hon ADELE FARINA to the Leader of
the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the presentation of a
Lotterywest cheque to the City of Busselton for the youth precinct.
(1) Why did the Premier invite the
Liberal candidate for Vasse to the presentation?
(2) Was an invitation to the
presentation extended to the Nationals candidate for Vasse?
(3) Was an
invitation to the presentation extended to Hon Colin Holt, MLC, member for
South West Region and a member of the Barnett Liberal–National
government?
(4) If no to (2) or (3), why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
(1)–(4) As
the honourable member is no doubt aware, there is a by-election in Busselton.
The invitation list to this event reflects the nature of politics.
Several members
interjected.
The PRESIDENT : Order! I should not intervene from
the chair, but I might just add that I did not receive an invitation. I give
the call to Hon Alanna Clohesy.
