DEPARTMENT OF
EDUCATION — LAND
678. Hon MATT BENSON-LIDHOLM to the Minister for
Education:
I refer to the minister's
answer to question without notice 655 provided yesterday.
(1) Does the
Department of Education own or lease land upon which regional education
offices, local education offices, and its central office at 151 Royal Street,
East Perth, are located?
(2) If yes to
(1), why was that land not included in the spreadsheet provided with yesterday's
answer, given that that land does not contain operating schools?
(3) Will the
minister now provide a complete list of land as requested in question without
notice 655; and, if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) The response
provided yesterday was based on the interpretation of question without notice 655
related to land owned or held by the Department of Education for the purposes
of building schools in the future.
(3) In addition
to the information provided in the response to question without notice 655,
below is a list of the regional education offices, local education offices and
central office, on land owned or leased by the department. This information, in
conjunction with information previously provided, does not include land owned
by the department for other purposes; for example, land awaiting disposal by
the department. In the time available, it is not possible to provide a complete
list of all such land owned or held by the department. The department has
advised me that this information will be provided by Thursday, 27 September
2012. I will table this information when it becomes available.
The rest of the
answer is in tabular form. I seek leave to have it incorporated into Hansard .
Leave granted.
