COMMUNITY KINDERGARTENS
1394. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to the hours and days of
operation of community kindergartens.
(1) Can the
minister confirm that the configuration of the kindergartens' operating
hours is determined by the parent management committee in consultation with the
linked school?
(2) If yes, can the configuration be amended by the
linked school without the parent management committee's agreement?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes, in consultation with the principal of the
linked school, community kindergarten staff, and the community.
(2) The
configuration can be amended through joint consultation. Where kindergarten
staff are shared across a community kindergarten and the linked primary school,
the requirement for consultation is obvious. The needs of both sites must be
taken into account when establishing or amending the daily timetable.
