I refer to the current education arrangements for children who are being held in community detention in Western Australia, and to negotiations that I understand are ongoing between the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Citizenship and the Department of Education in relation to access for these children to Western Australian government schools, and I ask —
(1) When did these negotiations commence?
(2) When will negotiations be finalised to allow children in community detention to attend Western Australian government schools?
(3) What are the outstanding barriers to the finalisation of these negotiations?
(4) When, and how, is it expected that these barriers will be overcome?
