The Department of Education advises:
(a) 262
(b) 268
(c) 286
(d) 164
These figures include graduates who have terminated their contract (including end of fixed-term contracts) and have not returned as at 29 May 2025.
In response to national teacher workforce challenges and workload pressures, the State Government is working to implement a range of new initiatives to improve pay and conditions through the recent Enterprise Bargaining Agreement, refreshed Workload Intensification Taskforce and landmark $1.6 billion Better and Fairer Schools Agreement with the Commonwealth.
Graduate departures within the first year have remained stable at 12-13 per cent over the last four years. This rate is lower than for other comparable professions.
