I refer the Premier to comments he made yesterday during debate on the matter of public interest relating to written allegations of fraudulent behaviour and vote rigging within the Australian Labor Party, in which the Premier admitted that he had seen the documents provided by Senator Mark Bishop but that these documents contained no written allegations of criminal behaviour. (1) Will the Premier confirm that, in fact, Senator Bishop’s correspondence refers directly to possible breaches of the Criminal Code and outlines several instances of potential criminal behaviour? (2) Will the Premier admit that he has misled the Parliament? The SPEAKER: Order! With regard to that question, where it does not refer to a legal opinion, the Premier may answer it. Dr G.I. GALLOP

(1)-(2) I do not think it is appropriate for me to comment on a matter that is now before the police; and I would urge the Leader of the Opposition to take the same course. We are clear about one thing, Leader of the Opposition. The Leader of the Opposition is concerning himself with the internal affairs of the Labor Party. We are getting on with governing the State of Western Australia on behalf of all the people of Western Australia.
