In respect of the Karrakatta Cemetery Keeping Place -
(1) Is the Minister aware that contrary to the wishes of Aboriginal people, state wide, and against the advice of the Aboriginal Affairs Department’s own consultant; and against the advice of all the Regional Commissions of Elders that the Karrakatta Cemetery Keeping Place was established?
(2) If so, will the Minister consider removing the Karrakatta Cemetery Keeping Place?
(3) Did the State Commission of Elders give approval and advice for this Keeping Place?
(4) If so, will he table their advice?

(2) No. The Keeping Place is a decision taken by the previous Government and I am not prepared to remove the facility (3) and (4). The approval of the previous Government is understood to have been made on advice from the Aboriginal Affairs Department, and the decision had the support of the State Commission of Elders. The State Commission Of Elders were not required to give approval for the Keeping Place.
