(1) In view of the bed shortages and the long waiting lists for hospitals located north and south of the river, why were doctors and nurses told yesterday that there would be 20 bed closures each at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital and seven bed closures at Osborne Park Hospital? (2) When the Department of Health told the doctors and nurses about these bed closures, they were told also that the closures were not negotiable. What is happening? Mr J.A. McGINTY
