WESTERN AUSTRALIA POLICE–DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE AND FOODMEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING — LIVESTOCK
250. Hon RICK MAZZA to the Minister for
Agriculture and Food:
I refer to the ministerXXX ###XXXs
response to part (3) of my question without notice 225 yesterday in which he
advised that livestock compliance unit inspectors assist Western Australia
Police with livestock crime investigations and maintain a presence at points of
livestock aggregation in Western Australia to deter stock theft and encourage
industry compliance with stock identification and movement legislation. How
many investigations has the livestock compliance unit referred to WA Police for
each of the years 2011 to 2014?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
The livestock compliance unit has
referred three matters relating to a stock theft investigation to WA Police:
one in 2012, one in 2014 and one in 2015. WA Police have carriage of stock
theft investigations and the LCU assists WA Police with investigations when
requested.
