KIMBERLEY EXPANSION PROJECT — STAGE 2 IRRIGATION PIPES
1039. Hon DARREN WEST to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the remediation work required on irrigation pipes
in the Ord expansion project stage 2.
(1) Has the
government settled on a method of remediation?
(2) If yes to (1) —
(a) has a cost been estimated for the
work; and, if so, what is that cost?
(b) has work started on the
remediation; and, if so —
� (i) who is undertaking that work;
� (ii) will this work complete all, or only part
of, the remediation required; and
� (iii) what is the estimated cost for the work that has commenced?
� (c) if work has not started, has the work been
put out to tender; and, if so, when does that tender process close?
(3) If no to (1), when is it
expected that the government will decide on a method of remediation?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) Yes.
(2) (a) Yes, the
most recent estimates of the rectification/replacement works is for a final
cost of below $12 million.
� (b) Yes, work has commenced.
(i) Three main
contracts have been awarded to Northern Development Company, ITS PipeTech and
Humes. This work will be completed by the end of 2014.
(ii) The above
contractors, assisted by some ancillary contractors, will complete all the
rectification/replacement works.
� (iii) Refer to (2)(a).
� (c) Not applicable.
(3) Not applicable.
