PUBLIC HOUSING — WAITING LIST
139. Hon
STEVE MARTIN to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for
Housing:
I refer to Western Australia
experiencing the lowest rental vacancy rate in 40 years and the 60 per cent
rise in homelessness in six months.
(1) Can the
minister detail how many Western Australians are currently on the Housing
Authority waitlist?
(2) Is the minister able to provide
an estimate of the average time spent on the waitlist?
(3) Given that
rental vacancy rates are among the state's lowest in regional centres
such as Kalgoorlie and Broome, can the minister provide a regional breakdown of
the waitlist numbers?
(4) Does the minister have a plan
to increase the availability of state-provided housing in WA?
