I refer the Minister to his answer to Question on Notice No. 637 provided on 5 May 2009, and ask:
(a) has an additional train carriage set been provided for service on the Midland-Perth line;
(b) if yes to (a), what is the seating and standing capacity of the additional train carriage set;
(c) if no to (a), is it anticipated that an additional train carriage set will be provided for service on the Midland-Perth line in the future;
(d) if yes to (c), what will be the seating and standing capacity of the additional train carriage set;
(e) if no to (c), what is the reason that an additional train carriage set will not be provided; and

(a) Yes.
(b) Average seating capacity is 130 per train set; standing capacity is 230 per train set.
(c)-(e) Not Applicable.
(f) Railcars have been cascaded from the Joondalup and Mandurah line to both the Midland and Fremantle lines in June 2009 and February 2010.  This has resulted in an increase in capacity of approximately 20 per cent and provided train services are not disrupted for any reason, all passengers are able to board their preferred train service.
