GP services—Kalbarri
351. Mrs Kirrilee Warr to
the Minister for Health:
I have a
supplementary question. What real assurances can the minister give the Kalbarri
community that there will be an on-call GP at her very own department-run health
centre?

As I say, we are
looking at a range of ways that we can meet the needs in regional communities.
That is why WACHS is a world leader in things like telehealth. We are
innovating all the time in how we deliver health care into what is the largest health
jurisdiction in the world.

The Speaker: Members!
Ms Meredith Hammat: We are world leaders in that
regard. We are continuing to innovate. We are working with the federal
government, as I have said, on things like single-model trials. We are really proud
of the investments we are making into regional areas, and we are very much
looking forward to opening the beautiful new health facility at Geraldton.
Mrs Kirrilee Warr: It's a long way from
Kalbarri.
Ms Meredith Hammat: It is a long way from Kalbarri,
but it is a fantastic facility, and it took a Labor government to build it.

The Speaker: Members! Thank you.
Ms Meredith Hammat: That is the truth. It took a Labor
government to build it, member.

The Speaker: Member! Member for Kalamunda, thank you.
Ms Meredith Hammat: We will continue that advocacy and
that work. I am advised that Minister Dawson has raised this particular issue
with the federal government as well.
