I refer to the Criminal Code Amendment Bill 2024 , and noting the bill's intent to raise maximum penalties for assault on retail workers, I ask: (a) how many convictions for common assault were there in 2023; and (b) is the Attorney aware of the penalties which the courts applied in these cases, and will he table these sentencing outcomes?
