I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(3) The federal Opposition’s “Youth Guarantee: Learn or Earn” policy document was released by the federal Leader of the Opposition on 14 May 2004. One of the initiatives contained in that policy is the proposal that a future federal Labor Government would cover the cost of TAFE fees for all secondary school students. The Minister for Education and Training has had discussions with the Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Jenny Macklin, MP, on this issue and a range of other education and training related policy matters over an extensive period.
