I have a supplementary question. I am
referring to the letter that the Premier wrote to the federal minister on 7 June.

was tabled in the other place, as requested, as part of a question addressed to
the minister representing the Premier, will the Premier now admit that his
changes to the regional sponsored migration scheme have damaged our
international student market over the last two years; and what will the Premier
do to reinstate Perth as a regional centre?

As
I said, I am working with a very effective and senior minister in the federal
government, Senator Mathias Cormann, to resolve a range of issues. The
area is very complex.
Dr M.D. Nahan interjected.

Mr M. McGOWAN : There is a range
of things the federal government does and a range of things the state
government does. Obviously, the interaction in respect of those policies is a complex
area.

We know it is a complex area, and
there are complex interactions between federal and state policy. We are working
cooperatively with the federal government to resolve the issue.
