The Department keeps records and maintains a number of different listings of intellectual property assets, such as lists of publications on the departmental websites and in the Annual Report. In this regard the Department complies with Treasurer's Instruction 410 which requires the keeping and maintenance of registers of public property, specifically with respect to copyright of publications. There is no specific capital value placed on intellectual property assets as it is considered they have no commercial value and to be of such significance that it can be measured in accordance with standard accounting practices. If the member has a particular issue of concern, I would be pleased to consider arranging for the agency to provide information on that specific issue.
