Under the National Packaging Covenant signed by the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council Ministers on August 27 1999 there was a commitment made by State Environment Departments to implement complementary Regulations which would apply to those who do not sign the Covenant -
(1) Have those regulations been introduced in this State?
(2) If so, can the Minister please table them?
(3) If not, when will the regulations be introduced?

(1) No – however, the Minister for the Environment and Heritage has recently approved drafting of the Regulations by the Parliamentary Counsel's Office. (2) Not applicable. (3) Once the Parliamentary Counsel's office has completed drafting the regulations and the Minister for the Environment and Heritage has approved them, the Regulations will be introduced.
