RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES —
NO-FAULT EVICTIONS
973. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the Minister for Commerce:
I thank the minister for her answer
to my question without notice 954 regarding no-fault evictions and short-stay
accommodation. Do the publicly available databases that the minister referred
to indicate a correlation between long-stay rental divestment and short-stay
rental investment?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
AirDNA and Inside Airbnb publish
information on the number of properties used for short-stay accommodation in Western
Australia. This data indicates that the number of properties available for
short-stay accommodation, particularly entire homes, have grown in some areas.
If these properties were not on the short-term rental market, it is possible
that they would be available on the long-term rental market or available for
sale.
