BUNBURY JETTY
I refer to question without notice 88 concerning the Bunbury Jetty and the minister’s reply. In recent media reports the Bunbury Mayor, His Worship David Smith, has indicated that the LandCorp waterfront development proposal in its current form is unlikely to get support and that he doubts that there will be any commercial development in the east side. I also draw to the minister’s attention that, in the case of the Busselton Jetty, the government did not make funding subject to reasonable certainty that the land development component of the project would proceed, and ask — (1) Will the minister immediately provide similar funding assistance to the City of Bunbury for the restoration of the Bunbury Jetty—similar funding meaning the full current projected restoration cost with no requirement for matching funding by the City of Bunbury? (2) If no to (1), why not? (3) Will the minister table the sustainable business plan for the ongoing maintenance of the Busselton Jetty submitted by the Shire of Busselton? (4) If no to (3), why not? Hon HELEN MORTON

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Regional Development, I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(2) It would not be appropriate for the government to respond on this issue as the government and LandCorp have not received a formal response from the City of Bunbury in relation to the eastside structure plan. (3)-(4) The plan is to be reviewed in context with the new tender being issued by the Shire of Busselton.
